How to export Gemini chats

Updated 2026-10-28. Google's menu names can change.

Short answer: for the chat you have open, AI Chat Exporter's one-click export works on gemini.google.com (in beta: check your file). For all your history, use Google Takeout and choose "My Activity" → "Gemini Apps".

  1. Add AI Chat Exporter to Chrome.
  2. Open the chat on gemini.google.com and click the toolbar button.
  3. Pick a format: PDF, Markdown, text or JSON. Because Gemini support is in beta, open the file and check it.

Gemini share links (gemini.google.com/share/…) are not supported yet; open the chat in Gemini itself instead.

All your Gemini history with Google Takeout

  1. Go to takeout.google.com and deselect everything.
  2. Select only "My Activity", then under the activity records choose only "Gemini Apps".
  3. Create the export. JSON or HTML both work.

Limit: Takeout keeps your prompts and Gemini's replies but not where one chat ends and the next begins. When you import it into AI Chat Exporter Pro, prompts within 30 minutes of each other are grouped into one chat, and you can then search, tag and bulk export them.
